Our Story

Originating in 2002 we opened boutique jewellery and bead stores trading as Etelage (French, adornment) in Cronulla beach, Sydney and the inner-city suburb of Newtown.

Newly rebranded as Bead Vault and operating 100% online, learn, create, and adorn using your curated ‘toolbox’ of artisan and vintage beads, handmade jewellery and beading classes in Sydney, Australia.

We are committed to sourcing beautiful and original elements, that tell authentic stories. Working closely with family-run cottage manufacturers and individual artisans who practice time-honoured handmade traditions allows us to embrace what we love to do: support the maker culture!

Celebrate bold style and create notably unique handmade jewellery from our vintage and retro beads, including chunky plastics made in the 1960s from Lucite, large wooden beads made in the 1970s when macrame was in vogue and 1980s Greek clay raw and glazed beads. Other distinctive elements include brass stamped filigrees which make incredible statement earrings, brass letters, numbers and charms, sew on French jet stones and cameos.

As direct importers from the Czech Republic we stock a vast selection of Czech pressed glass beads, cathedral beads, handmade lamp work as well as fire polished and machine cut crystals. Additionally, weave, stitch and embellish your textile designs from fashion to quilts using small and delicate Czech seed beads, bugles beads and two cut beads.

SYDNEY JEWELLERY CLASSES

Bead Vault is a jewellery studio, based in Sydney. We are passionate about learning, creativity, the planet, and people.

For over 20 years we have been offering hands-on jewellery making workshops in Sydney for all skill levels. 

In addition to our regular workshops, we also customise creative experiences for kids and tween birthday parties, hen’s parties, community groups and corporate functions from anchor days, and team building to activations and product launches.
