These tear drop glass beads are reproductions of beads traded at the beginning of the 20th century into West Africa. Traditionally, the beads were traded for African natural products for example - palm oil, sugar, cocoa etc. Today, the colourful Peul, Fulani and Bella tribes adorn themselves with the Bohemian glass beads on their wedding day. They braid them in their hair and wear them as necklaces.
