Jumprings are metal connectors, an all-purpose and essential gadget for jewellery making. They are used to attach two components together, such as connecting a clasp to a chain or a charm to a chain or bead.

To open a round jumpring, twist one end to the side. Do not pry both ends apart, as this will misshapen the ring and weaken the metal.

Use two pairs of flat pliers, gripping either side of the gap, with one pair of pliers in your dominant hand and with a small twist pull the other pliers towards you.
